Chapter 12 - Face Lift
An important aspect of the ego thought system that A Course in Miracles exposes is our habit of portraying ourselves as innocent victims. Because of the tremendous guilt we experienced over the seeming separation from God (and the fear of God's vengeance), we are always on the lookout for others to blame.
We put on the face of innocence, and point accusingly at our parents, spouse, colleagues, world leaders, etc. to demonstrate how unfairly treated we are, and how guilty everybody else is. We create a world and project our guilt onto others, so we can say "look I'm an innocent victim; those other people are clearly the sinners and they, not I, deserve God's punishment".
In this chapter, we will examine how we display this "face of innocence", and how we can reverse that trend and take responsibility for our world.
